The end of the month is emerging and the Grand Aero Challenge air triathlon is soon to take off. We had the chance to make an interview with the participants via email.
The first pilot I could reach was Mark Jeffries, multiple English stunt flying champion.
- Hi Mark. We’re glad you accepted our invitation to this year’s Grand Aero Challenge in Balatonfüred. How did the invitation for the event affected you?
- It was a total surprise. My friend, Zoltán Veres Hungarian aerobatics European Champion popped the idea. In January we flew a joint tie in Dubai, in the so called TCAS formation.
- What do you expect from the Grand Aero Challenge race?
- I’m looking forward to it very much. I like races with greatly executed new ideas.
- What kind of technical and practical knowledge is necessary to be successful in each of the different events?
- Highly important factors are orientation and the coordination of the plane in the three dimensional space. These are the fundamentals of stunt flying. During the flight it is very important to know where the audience is, you can not jeopardize or scare them.
- The football world cup is weltering right now. How do you follow the events?
- To be honest, kicking a ball filled with air doesn’t interest me, I think breaching the air is a lot more fun.
- What are your plans for the upcoming period?
- After the Grand Aero Challenge in Balatonfüred I make a show in Farnborough, United Kingdom.
Thank you for your answers and see you in Balatonfüred. |
