The Grand Aero Challenge takes place in Balatonfüred, a unique international aeorbatic show with three events – syncronised flying, balloon hunt and the freestyle stunt-flying. Besides Zoltán Veres, the European champion who founded the idea of the race, South-African, Slovakian, Spanish, Italian and German pilots mark the international lineup. In the first event the competitors form pairs and compare their skills above the water surface of the Balatonfüred harbor. During the task the two planes are flying in the same time performing the same routine next to each other: the pace is that matters but the judges also pay attention to the precise execution if the routines. In the balloon hunt the pilot has three attempts to blow the meteorology balloon with a diameter of half a meter, with a needle placed onto the nose of the plane. What makes the task more difficult, is that the balloons can only be blown by a zipping plane coming from underneath, maximum angle is 20 degrees – from the surface of the water upwards – when the balloons reach the altitude of 200m. After the combat and the hunt the pilots can prove in a more peaceful task. The freestyle competition is an aerobatic show composed to a music, which amuses the audience of the Balatonfüred promenade to the music accords audible on the shore also. The spectators can influence the final result of the competition, as the score of the last event will outline based on their votes sent via text messages. After the free practise on July 1 the three events take place on July 2 from 10, 12 and 14 o’clock. The Grand Aero Challenge is one of the of the foreevents of the Blue Ribbon Festival, the entry is free of charge.
